The Musée de France Benoît-De-Puydt, a collector's house reinvented.

The museum owes its name to a generous Bailleulois who bequeathed the thousands of objects in his collection to the town in 1859. Completely destroyed by bombing during the Great War, the museum was rebuilt in the style of a fine neo-Flemish town house. The part of the collection saved from the disaster has since been enriched, and today forms a marvellous, life-size cabinet of curiosities, featuring paintings, sculptures, ceremonial furniture, ceramics, lace and graphic arts, all bearing witness to Flemish, European and Asian cultures from the 15th century to the present day.
Renowned for its delicate Antwerp and Italian secret cabinets, rich in the presence of works by regional artists, and unrivalled for its "Ghost Paintings", the museum conceals a number of treasures not to be missed under any circumstances.
Cycling friends, the establishment has been awarded the Accueil Vélo label (Accueil Vélo® is a national brand that guarantees a quality welcome and services along cycle routes for touring cyclists).
