Lové au creux d’un méandre du Lot, Castelmoron est habité autour de son château dès le XIIIème siècle. La cité fut un des foyers du calvinisme au XVIème. Elle recèle un étonnant patrimoine, en particulier le château Solar, d’influence néo-mauresque, qui édifié en terrasse sur le Lot, est aujourd’hui le siège de la mairie. Halte fluviale appréciée, Castelmoron offre aussi sur la rive gauche du Lot une plage de sable blanc près du camping situé sur la commune voisine du Temple-sur-Lot.

Nestled in a meander in the Lot Valley, the village of Castelmoron grew up around its castle as early as the 13th century. In the 16th century, the place became a major refuge for Protestant Calvinists. It conceals startling buildings, notably the Château Solar, in neo-Moorish style. Located on a wide terrace over the Lot, this now houses the town hall. Castelmoron has a much-loved port, plus a sandy beach near the campsite in the neighbouring parish of Le Temple-sur-Lot.
