Located in southern Alsace, the Petite Camargue alsacienne is the largest and oldest nature reserve in the region.
Created in 1982, its aim was to preserve the wetlands formed by the flooding of the Rhine, and to raise public awareness of nature conservation. Today, it is the ideal place for observing flora and fauna: there are no fewer than 40 species of tree, 180 birds, 16 amphibians, 40 dragonflies?
From mid-August to October, you can watch migratory birds stopping off for a few days before continuing their journey. From all over northern Europe, hundreds of waders and birds of prey stop here.
The site is open all year round, for free access or guided tours.
