The regional Mountain Museum was founded in Château-Lambert in the Vosges saônoises region in 1977. It is both an indoor and an outdoor museum, and serves to evoke the traditional rural society here at the start of the 20th century. Wood and forest crafts and industries were of particular importance, and the museum features reconstructions of the houses of clog and charcoal makers, who were widespread in the region’s forests at the time. A section on mining and snow-based transportation has recently been added to the museum.
